No one prepares you for how you're going to feel after surgery

If you’re reading this from a bed, a couch, or an Airbnb far from home, I want you to know something first of all: what you’re feeling is not strange, not exaggerated, and you’re not alone.
Many people believe that after cosmetic surgery everything is instant happiness. That you look in the mirror and smile. That you feel grateful, renewed, confident. And yes, that moment does come… but not always right away.
The first few days are often confusing. The body hurts, it’s swollen, limited. We depend on others for basic things. We don’t sleep well. We eat differently. And on top of that, there’s something hardly anyone talks about: the mind is recovering too.
Anesthesia, medications, physical exhaustion, and such a sudden change can make emotions feel more intense. Some patients cry without knowing why. Others feel anxious. Some even wonder if they made the right decision.
And I want to tell you this with complete honesty: that does not mean you made a mistake. It means your body and your mind are going through something big, and they need time.
Surgery changes the body first. The mind moves a little slower. And that’s okay.
